This means that this popular cycling event is held in accordance with the standards and rules of the UCI and will attract an even greater number of cyclists and lovers of this sport to the region of Istria. Participants will be able to enjoy the nature of Istria and its beautiful landscapes while competing in different categories and race lengths. Get ready for another unforgettable Istria Gran Fondo in 2026.This is a series of competitions held across five continents, culminating in the UCI Gran Fondo Series World Championship from August 26 to 30, 2026, in Niseko, Japan. Therefore, the results achieved in the main race of the Istria Gran Fondo, one of the stops in the UCI Gran Fondo Series, will count toward the overall ranking of cyclists competing for a place among the elite at the World Championship in Japan. Thus, the best cyclists - 25% in their age group participating in the Istria Gran Fondo race will get the opportunity and the right to fight for the title of world champion.The age categories of the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships are: 19-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, Etc…Age groups applicable to the UCI Gran Fondo World Series are defined by the rider’s age on December 31st of the year of the qualifier event.
