Heraldic collection

The Fonticus gallery houses an interesting heraldic collection gathered by artist Eugen Vodopivec Borkovsky
It opened for the public in 2000 and contains numerous coats of arms and heraldic charges of Istrian towns, but also some of Croatian, German, and Slovenian ones.
It displays rich urban traditions of Istria and Croatia, and introduces visitors to the basic rules of heraldry, the most common forms of coats of arms, heraldic ordinaries and colour patterns.
There are also numerous heraldic figures and a few reproductions of Stemmatographia, an essay on heraldry by Pavle Ritter Vitezović, published in Vienna in 1701.
The heraldic collection is owned by the Municipality of Grožnjan.
