Experiences in Novigrad by the sea, land, and palate

For Novigrad is, above all, a paradise for gourmets, offering a wide and high-quality selection of specialties and delicacies from the sea and land. Between the grape harvest, used to produce the renowned Novigrad wines, and the anticipation of the new golden drops of olive oil, there are still events that promote the very best of Istria, both on the plate and in the glass.

Wine & Walk by the Sea takes place every year on the last weekend of September, and participants can enjoy a whole day of nature, combining a recreational walk with the pleasure of Novigrad's local eno-gastronomic story. During this time of year, Novigrad shows the most beautiful and bountiful nature of northwestern Istria, with autumn colors and the finest fruits of the vineyards. The 10 km-long Wine & Walk by the Sea route features 7 refreshment stations where participants can taste the best wines from Novigrad's winemakers and Istrian specialties from local restaurants.

The pedestrian path, followed by the event’s participants, can be enjoyed at any time during the pleasant autumn. This is the perfect season for cycling, jogging, tennis, dog walks, and yoga in the city's green oasis. The urban side of the city invites you to numerous restaurants and taverns, where you can taste local specialties with flavors of the sea and land. Three Novigrad restaurants are ranked among the top in Croatian gastronomy, offering a unique fine dining experience with the personal touch of the head chef.

In honor of autumn and local ingredients, on October 19th and 20th, you can enjoy a fantastic mushroom stew and other specialties at the Mushroom Days, organized by the local mushroom association "Bolestus." The following weekend, on October 26th, the star will be the apple. Apple Day promotes its health benefits and delicious homemade desserts, prepared each year by members of the Healthy Novigrad association for visitors.

With its fishing tradition, felt in the Mandrač harbor, Novigrad offers an authentic experience on November 2nd and 3rd at the Park Food Fest, when the harbor and nearby park are transformed into an open-air restaurant. You are invited to a unique street food festival with a rich entertainment program for all generations.

Novigrad also invites you to enjoy the gentle sound of waves, fishing boats, and seagulls. Walk barefoot along the beaches and nearby pine groves! Sip coffee or fine Istrian wine on the terraces of apartments, hotels, wine cellars, and bars in the city center!
