Autumn experiences in Novigrad – by the sea and on the palate

Stroll along the ancient town walls that whisper stories from the past. Discover the romantic historical loggia – an idyllic spot echoing with culture and history. The square has recently gained even more popularity after the international cycling event Nova Eroica Istria, held this September. As both the start and finish location for hundreds of gravel riders, Novigrad offered participants a unique way to explore the natural beauty of northwestern Istria while discovering its rich eno-gastronomic traditions. The town has thus become a welcoming destination for guests who love an active holiday and fine food. Next June, Novigrad will once again host the second edition of Nova Eroica Istria.

You can experience it all during one special weekend – October 31st and November 1st, when the Park Food Fest brings the best street food in northwestern Istria. Around twenty dishes inspired by the sea, the land, and tradition – from seafood and pasta to premium meat dishes – will be paired with excellent local wines and craft beers. From lunch to dinner, enjoy a feast of traditional and modern flavours with a view of the sea, surrounded by the greenery of the town park, accompanied by great music and fun for children.

Don’t miss a visit to local wine cellars and olive oil producers, whose award-winning extra virgin oils are regularly featured in renowned guides such as Flos Olei. For a touch of heritage, stop by the Visitor Center dedicated to Novigrad’s fishing tradition, featuring a replica of the old wooden fishing boat batana and a fascinating collection of historical items donated by local fishermen.
