Back in 2017 he was part of the backstage crew at the Sea Star Festival. Just a few years later, he was standing on the same stage – but as the main star.
Baby Lasagna performed at Dora – the Croatian Eurovision Song Contest – in 2024, and that's where his incredible Eurovision story began. With his hit song "Rim Tim Tagi Dim" and an energetic performance, he not only won Dora, but also Croatia's best ever Eurovision placement (2nd place) and the most votes from the public.
Rural, honest, worldly
His music combines pop-punk, techno, heavy metal and house with emotional and social themes. It connects the sound of urban generations with the narratives of the little man, especially young people who are searching for their place in the sun.
Baby Lasagna's stage performance and music videos have a strong visual and entertainment component — rural and retro motifs, homely surroundings, accentuated movements and theatricality, and the cute line "Meow, cat, please meow back!" with the cat Stipe have attracted global attention and become favourite memes.
A star without 'starry' manners
Despite his worldwide popularity, Marko Purišić aka Baby Lasagna was and remains the boy from the neighbourhood. Fame sometimes presents a burden to him because, as he himself says: I am a small town boy. He also showed his bigheartedness when, after winning a large cash prize from the Croatian Government, he donated all the money to charity.
His humour, simplicity and honesty created a brigade of loyal fans. Knowing who he is, and remaining himself, he conquered the world without losing himself — and this statement shows it best:
''It's not about trophies or prizes, it's about the time we spend together, because at the end of life, it's not about whether you had a lot of trophies, it's about whether your friends and cats are with you."
