Wine & Walk by the Sea

Wine & Walk by the Sea will take place on 26 September 2026 in Novigrad – Cittanova as an eno-gastro and outdoor event combining a relaxed recreational walk with top wines from north-western Istria and authentic local gastronomy, set against the backdrop of Novigrad’s seafront and historic old town. Over the years, the event has established itself as one of the city’s recognisable eno-gastronomic experiences, regularly attracting strong interest from participants and the active involvement of local winemakers and restaurants.

Route concept and course
The start and finish of the circular route are planned at Veliki trg in the centre of Novigrad, where participants collect their starter package (branded glass, vouchers, route map and T-shirt) before setting off according to controlled starting times.

The route, approximately 10 kilometres long, leads participants along the seaside promenade, through city vistas, vineyards and olive groves, and past natural and historic sites in the Novigrad area. The first stop is located in the Blu Mare Hotel zone by the sea, from where the walk continues towards the Karpinjan vineyard, Stancija Fava, Kaža del Mato and the Kastanija area, offering panoramic views of the sea.

One of the stops is also planned in the Karpinjan Green Beach area (the so-called surprise point). The route then continues towards Hotel Nautica and concludes with the return to Veliki trg, where a closing party is organised.

Along the route, participants are welcomed at seven wine & food stations where winemakers personally present their wines, while local restaurants prepare themed bites based on local ingredients. Each station offers a different pairing of wines and food, creating a varied eno-gastro experience throughout the walk.

Eno-gastro segment
The event brings together winemakers from north-western Istria, while the gastronomic offer is prepared by local restaurants through creative interpretations of Istrian specialities.

The focus is on local and seasonal ingredients, the presentation of Malvasia, Teran and other recognised varieties of north-western Istria, as well as direct interaction between winemakers and participants, adding an extra layer of authenticity to the experience.
