On Friday in Momjan, we will screen The Voice of Hind Rajab, a film by Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania, which premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival.

The film is based on a real event that took place in Gaza in January 2024. Six-year-old Hind Rajab was trapped in a car after an attack in which her family was killed. Her call for help to the Palestinian Red Crescent became the basis for the film.

What makes the film particularly powerful is the way the story is told. While actors portray the emergency responders trying to reach Hind, the film incorporates real recordings of her voice and her conversations with the people on the other end of the line. In this way, the line between documentary and fiction is almost completely blurred.

The Voice of Hind Rajab is not an easy film, but it is one that is hard to forget — and one you will find yourself talking about long after the screening.
