Un poeta, a film by Simón Mesa Soto, is a bittersweet tragicomedy about art, failure, talent, and the need for a second chance. At once an intimate portrait of a man and a story about the relationship between a mentor and his student, the film explores, with empathy and a touch of dark humor, what it means to be an artist and how difficult it is to come to terms with a life that has not turned out the way we imagined. The film won the Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
