Winter signs have already knocked at our doors. While most of the continent is trapped in the ice and snow, we invite you to the 16th race of the new trekking season in the picturesque Istrian town of Brtonigla.

Discover Istrian hidden treasures of untouched nature, enjoy the landscape around the river Mirna, run through the woods, Istrian vineyards and olive groves, walk up the hills featuring small  medieval towns and from where you can enjoy unforgettable views stretching from Mount Učka all the way to the Adriatic Sea.

More about Trekking race

Trekking race is a trail run race including elements of orientation, very popular in Croatia and Slovenia.

The configuration of terrain is the same as for the trail run race, except that in Brtonigla Adventure Trek the trekking trail is not fully marked - instead the trail only has checkpoints. A participant receives a trekking map with checkpoints plotted and it is up to the participant to decide the best or the fastest route to reach each of checkpoints. However, the orientation is fairly  simple.

Welcome!

Categories:

Fun & Run (about 10-12 km)

This category is designed for walkers, beginners, families and recreational runners who have decided to enjoy the nature for 1-3 hours. It can be also used by athletes wishing to apply a very fast tempo as a practice for a great training on cross country. Orientation is fairly simple; the path is marked by hiking markings, ribbons and arrows so that this category has no mandatory equipment such as a map, a compass, a cell phone, etc.  A participant carries refreshment (if necessary) and water is going to be available at two places during the race. In this category the participant must folow a marked path of the race. All others solutions are forbiden.

Start time: 11.00 am

Duration: 1-3h

Entry fee: 100 kn

Awards: the first, the second and the third place in men's and women's category: medals, sponsors' prizes

Challenger (about 25 km)

This category is designed for all lovers of nature, trackers, hikers, nordic walkers, athletes and trail runners. It lasts 3-5 hours depending on participant's physical ability. Any active or recreational hiker who once a week walks for couple of hours can successfully complete this category.

Orientation is fairly simple. A participant should carry water and food with him, however water is also going to be available in several places during the race.

Start time: 10.00 am

Duration: 3-5h

Entry fee: 25€

Awards: the first, the second and the third place in men's and women's category: medals, sponsors' prizes

Required equipment: Compass, headlamp, mobile phone, First aid kit and space blanket, Whistle

Ultra (about 45-50 km)

This challenging category is designed for trained and experienced trail runners, athletes, adventure runners as well as for mountaineers, recreational athletes and sportsmen who are looking for a challenge or who wish to examine the limits of their capabilities. Estimated duration of the race is from 7 to 12h.

The race has its own limits on certain control points in the second stage of the race so that those who remain behind are taken to the shortened version of the race which allows them to finish the race at the estimated time. At some control points orientation allows the participants to choose between two or more different paths or even to decide to go off-path which may shorten the route and potentially reduce (or increase - if not choosen well!) the time spent in the race. If an off-path is choosen, a participant whose orientation skills are weaker won't get lost however, it may progress slower. A participant should carry water and food with them. Water is also going to be available in several places during the race.

Start time: 9.00 am

Duration: 7-12h

Entry fee: 30€

Awards: the first, the second and the third place in men's and women's category: medals, sponsors' prizes, cash prizes

Required equipment: Compass, headlamp, mobile phone, First aid kit and space blanket, Whistle

Entry fee includes: Organization of the race, mountain rescue or doctor, hot meal, a t-shirt or a cap, competitive board, instructions for the race (checkpoints), map of the race.
