Piazza Grande Party – Let’s Celebrate World Tourism Day Together!

On Saturday, 26 September, Piazza Grande becomes a meeting place filled with music and the flavours of Istria. To mark World Tourism Day, celebrated throughout the Istrian region that weekend, Novigrad-Cittanova invites locals and visitors to the Piazza Grande Party – an evening dedicated to good company, local flavours and a lively atmosphere.

The party starts at 6:30 PM and joins the finale of Wine & Walk by the Sea, one of Novigrad’s signature wine and food experiences, combining local wines and gastronomy with walking and the beautiful coastal landscape. As Wine & Walk participants arrive at Piazza Grande, the celebration continues with a food and wine offer open to all visitors.

DJ Mr G – Giancarlo Šegon kicks off the evening’s music programme at 6:30 PM, followed by Kožne Jakne at 8:00 PM. With Croatian and international hits, rock and pop, the music continues into the evening.

A special part of the programme comes courtesy of guests from Novigrad-Cittanova’s Slovenian twin town of Laško. At 7:00 PM, the Laško majorettes and brass band will parade through the streets of the old town, followed by a short performance at Piazza Grande. Their visit continues the long-standing friendship between Novigrad-Cittanova and Laško, built through years of cultural exchange and sharing traditions and gastronomy. The Laško majorettes and brass band will also perform earlier that day, with a morning parade through the old town starting at 10:00 AM.
