Fire Festival
On 23 June, a day before the Feast of St John the Baptist, Oprtalj will host the fourth edition of the Fire Festival. This picturesque event revives the ancient tradition of lighting and jumping over bonfires.
This year, the ritual bonfire will once again invite locals and their guests to participate in the ancient celebration of the summer solstice, complementing the event with music, performances and homemade specialties. A central bonfire will be lit in Sv. Juraj Square where visitors will enjoy the fire show as well.
Come to experience the warmth and light of the Midsummer Eve fires, travel back in time and discover how people used to worship the Sun and celebrate the awakening of Nature.
