Pineta / Kastanija – wild natural beauty
On the western edge of Novigrad, where vineyards descend towards the sea, lies Kastanija – better known as Pineta – with two stunning coves considered among the most beautiful natural bays in this part of the coast. Surrounded by dense pine trees and Mediterranean vegetation, it offers a more untouched seaside experience. There’s no excessive infrastructure, but just enough amenities for a comfortable stay, making it perfect for relaxation and a return to simplicity.
The shoreline is a mix of fine pebbles, flat stone areas and natural rocks, while the sea is exceptionally clear, with vibrant turquoise shades that stand out on sunny days. The entry into the water is gradual, while rocky sections provide excellent spots for snorkelling and exploring underwater life. Pine trees offer natural shade throughout the day, and a coastal path with a cycling trail runs along the shore, making this area ideal for relaxed walks at sunset. The atmosphere is easygoing, unpretentious and deeply connected to nature – perfect for spending an entire day by the sea.
Perfect for: lovers of natural coves, couples, recreational visitors, walkers and anyone seeking a quieter, authentic Mediterranean atmosphere away from the city crowds.
