A wild card for young talents
The particular value of ATP Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag lies in the fact that 82% of invitations (wild cards) in the last ten years have been awarded to Croatian players. This gives Umag an opportunity for young talents that few tournaments offer. It is precisely these first appearances that are often crucial for gaining self-confidence and entering the ATP rankings.

„I've always said that Umag is my favourite tournament on the Tour. I won my first points there and I've always loved coming back.“
— Borna Ćorić

Why is the ATP tournament in Umag special?
ATP Umag means a lot to native tennis players. It is a true incubator of Croatian tennis, a place where careers are shaped, and the local audience has the opportunity to watch and encourage rising stars.
The tournament holds special value for the youngest as well, who each year, through the Kids Week program, have a unique opportunity to meet their tennis idols, interact with them, and play tennis on the same courts. In this way, ATP Umag connects not only competitively, but also educationally and inspirationally with future generations of athletes.
