Zigante Truffle Days

Every fall, Livade becomes the epicenter of truffle celebration during the Zigante Truffle Days, a five-weekend international gourmet expo held from October 4th to November 2nd.

This unique event draws thousands of visitors from across the globe to experience the finest Istrian delicacies, with the white truffle taking center stage. During the fair, Livade and its surroundings transform into a fragrant, immersive landscape dedicated entirely to this noble mushroom.

The festival features a vibrant program: a truffle fair, international wine and product exhibition (including prosciutto, cheese, olive oil, honey, brandy), culinary workshops, and tastings of truffle-based specialties crafted by renowned chefs. Visitors can also hop aboard a guided tourist train to the Motovun forest, where a truffle hunter and his trained dogs await to lead you on a real truffle-hunting adventure.

Zigante Truffle Days have earned Livade the title of Istrian truffle capital, placing this small village firmly on the global gourmet map. More than 50 exhibitors showcase their finest products in the main tent, while guests — from food lovers and chefs to bloggers, artists, and public figures — mingle, taste, and celebrate the essence of Istria.

Each year, the fair welcomes around 50,000 visitors from nearby countries like Slovenia, Italy, Germany, and Austria, as well as distant regions such as Japan, China, and North America. They come to enjoy the peak of the white truffle season, explore the scenic surroundings, and savor the authentic flavors of Istria.
