Northwestern Istria is merrily preparing for Christmas and the New Year. This is the opportunity for the guests to enjoy the festive ambient together with the hosts and absorb the parts of tradition and local crafts with the occasional programme and socializing.
It may not be a coincidence that Umag has a little magic in its name, so the fact that it hosts the UMAGic holidays doesn't come as a surprise. Once again the fabulous atmosphere will fill the town's streets and squares with various delightful events and concerts which will take place from 20 December till 1 January.
The visitors will not only have the chance to taste the typical fritule and warm up with a glass of the fragrant mulled wine, but also to buy a creative gift for their loved ones, made by many small hands, but also some bigger ones.
After the Christmas celebrations, we will festively prepare for the happiest day of the year and give a joyful welcome to the New Year. The fun will be ensured by many concerts, DJs, all accompanied by the captivating offers of our caterers.
The Umagical Holidays on 1st May Square bring a fairytale atmosphere with charming huts offering a variety of delicacies from 10:00 AM. The rich program features 17 concerts, 3 DJ events, two children’s performances, an exhibition, a film screening, and a chance to meet Santa Claus.
The event kicks off with the ballet performance “The Nutcracker” by the Carlotta Grisi Dance Center, followed by concerts by Rišpet, Love Runners Band, and the children’s play “Grandma Mraz’s Secret Recipe” by Theatre Naranča. Visitors to the Umagical Square will also enjoy a performance by Le Monde, while the brass orchestra Naša sloga Babići will deliver a memorable Christmas concert, with the evening concluding with the Italian group Bandelia.
Special highlights include the “City of Umag Calendar 2025” exhibition, a Christmas concert by the 4 Tenors (Đani Stipaničev, Vladimir Garić, Filip Hozjak, and Marko Pecotić), and a DJ evening with Sciglio Fantastique. Christmas Eve will feature traditional bakalar (codfish) accompanied by music from Šajeta, and an evening of dancing and live music with the Tu i Tamo Band.
On St. Stephen’s Day, don’t miss the HO HO HO Run and a screening of the movie “Mufasa: The Lion King”, with all-day entertainment provided by DJ Ben Valley. The following day brings performances by Leteći odred, Molly Duo, Replay Band, Berni & Vedin, and the group Febra.
The evening before New Year’s Eve welcomes Ivan Zak, while New Year’s Eve celebrations will be led by DJ Shurki, culminating in a spectacular entrance into 2025 with Indira and a silent fireworks display. The New Year’s morning will conclude with a cycling event organized by BK Umag, starting the year in a healthy and active spirit.
