Cattunar

Forty years ago, in the far west of Croatia, on the slopes near Brtonigla in Istria, the story of the Cattunar winery began.
Unable to rely on previous generations to inherit winemaking knowledge and skills, we became one of the pioneers and helped build Croatia's modern wine scene. Our estate has been constantly expanding to reach its current 45 hectares of vineyards.
Vision, perseverance and deep respect for the blessings of this region guide us on our journey. The indigenous grape varieties, Malvasia, Teran, Muscat Blanc and Muscat Rose, as well as the microclimatic and pedological conditions are our strength and the heritage we leave to future generations.
Our vineyards are located right next to the Adriatic Sea and the Mirna River Valley, which protect us from extreme temperatures, as well as the Učka Mountain to the east, which acts as a barrier to cold currents and precipitation.
They combine four distinctive soil types; flysch and limestone, gray and white soil, and mineral-rich black and red soil.
All of this creates a unique combination of factors that give our wines a unique mineral touch and inspire us to further explore and play.
We are extremely proud that our vineyards are located right here, where the land and its most important fruits have always been celebrated. Doesn't that speak to the enduring predisposition of this land of ours to allow those who respect it enough to enjoy the best wine and the best olive oil?
Although skilled in all styles of wine production, from sparkling wines, to dry and sweet, we are known for our aged Malvasia with a solid structure and rich flavor that regularly wins prestigious medals at the world's most famous wine competitions.
In order to share our love and enthusiasm for this beautiful region, in addition to the vineyards, we have built an elegant and luxurious residence with eleven rooms, intended for wine lovers who are looking for a peaceful oasis for their peaceful, intimate and harmonious vacation.
The Cattunar family from Brtonigla has given and will continue to give everything they can and know to achieve the most faithful expression of Istrian Malvasia and Teran to this noble and ancient terroir.
A visit to our winery is not just about tasting excellent wines - it is a journey through the history and peculiarities of our region and an opportunity to connect with nature and yourself.
