The Parenzana Museum in Livade

The Parenzana Museum was opened on 4 November 2007 in Livade. It is a cultural heritage site that tells the story of the period between 1902 and 1935, when the Parenzana was still served by trains. The museum was set up to preserve and present the history of this 123.1 km long railway line, which connected 33 Istrian towns. It represents one of the most important cultural attractions of Istria and is the only museum dedicated exclusively to the Parenzana.
The museum collection comprises documents, photographs, vintage postcards, milestones and various objects related to the history of the Parenzana. The exhibition is organised in such a way as to give visitors an insight into the work and life of the people along the railway and its impact on the local community.
On 20 April 2011, a renewed and extended museum collection was presented within the PARENZANA II project. Visitors can experience nostalgic moments while discovering the beauties of the Istrian nature connected by this railway line. That is why the Parenzana Museum in Livade is a must-see place for all history buffs who appreciate the beauties of Istria. Admission to the Parenzana Museum in Livade is free for all visitors.
